My dear friend Esther Lovejoy recently sent me an autographed copy of her book, The Sweet Side of Suffering published by Discovery House in February, 2013. Esther and I became acquainted at the Write His Answer conference in 2009. We ate together, enjoyed lots of conversation and even prayed together in a women’s restroom! We’ve maintained communication ever since. She was pitching her proposal for this book at the conference so I was delighted to hear that it had been published.

Based on some of Esther’s personal experiences, and some of others as well, it is a book for anyone going through trials and suffering. She weaves the reality of suffering in the context of God and His Word. Esther gently invites the reader to insert herself into the application of scripture to suffering. Though a circumstance may not change, seeing the “sweet” side of suffering changes one’s perspective.

I encourage you to find a copy, and when you have finished reading it, pass it on to another who may be in the valley.

Thank you Esther for providing a balm of encouragement and reminding us of hope.
